Jofra Archer has been ruled out of England’s T20I series against South Africa, starting on February 12.

The Sussex fast bowler has not played since taking six wickets in England’s defeat at Centurion in the first Test of the four-match series.

He suffered an injury to his right elbow, which ruled him out of the final three games; he has now returned to the UK to continue his recovery.

Archer is also a doubt for England’s two-Test trip to Sri Lanka, which takes place in March.

He has been replaced in the squad for the three T20Is by Lancashire seamer Saqib Mahmood, who will remain in South Africa after the three-match ODI series.
