Jason Roy will not field for England against India after the opening batsman was struck on the forearm while batting.

The Surrey man, who struck 66 off just 57 balls on his return to the side, was hit by a delivery from Jasprit Bumrah, sustaining an external blow.

Roy's return to the team was viewed as a gamble of sorts, given his troublesome hamstring that forced him to miss games against Afghanistan, Sri Lanka and Australia - the latter two of which, England lost.

He suffered the hamstring tear while fielding in England's win over West Indies in Southampton.

The decision for Roy not to field followed KL Rahul, the India batsman, being forced from the field after suffering a back twinge while attempting - unsuccessfully - to catch Jonny Bairstow while fielding on the boundary.

India are chasing 338 to beat England, who need to defeat Virat Kohli's side and New Zealand to guarantee their position in the semi-finals.
