Jason Roy will undergo a scan on his left hamstring on Saturday after pulling up in the field during England’s victory over West Indies.

Roy spent most of the Windies innings off the field of play, and then did not bat, after feeling tightness in the area when setting off after the ball.

England expect to know within 48 hours whether the issue is serious.

Meanwhile, Eoin Morgan will continue to be assessed by the team’s medical staff after suffering a back spasm at the Hampshire Bowl.

Morgan too was unable to bat after suffering the injury in innocuous circumstances in the field.

Eoin Morgan is struggling with a back spasm

He attended the post-match press conference after his side’s eight-wicket win but conducted it on his feet.

“It’s sore. I’ve had back spasms before. It normally takes a few days to settle down,” he said.

“We’ll know more in the next 24 hours.”

Morgan has had similar problems in the past, but “in a different area” of his back.

“You normally get a good indication the following day,” he said.

“We’ll have to do a risk assessment, see how risky it is going into that game, bearing in mind we have two games in a short space of time (against Afghanistan on Tuesday and Sri Lanka on Friday.

Having injury concerns over two key players less than halfway through the World Cup is not ideal for Morgan and his team, but the skipper is not fretting just yet.

“When any two players go down it is a bit of a worry,” he said. “We’re not at panic stations yet. We’ll see how we get on in the next 48 hours and go from there.”

If Roy's scan reveals any major damage, England will have to considered replacing their form batsman in the squad.

Joe Denly, who was named in the initial 15-man party for the tournament but lost his place to James Vince, would come under consideration.
