England women have handed first one-day international call-ups to Issy Wong and Lauren Bell, while Alice Davidson-Richards is back to face South Africa later this month.

Davidson-Richards last played an ODI four years ago but a century on her Test debut at Taunton has led to a recall.

Katherine Brunt, who retired from Test duty before the stalemate with The Proteas, and batter Danni Wyatt both return to the group.

There is no place for Freya Davies, Anya Shrubsole retired following the World Cup and Tash Farrant has been ruled out of the summer with a lumbar spine stress fracture.

After the drawn Test, England host South Africa in three ODIs on July 11, 15 and 18 at Northampton, Bristol and Leicester. Three T20s (July 21, 23 and 25) - a separate squad will be announced - complete the multi-format series.

South Africa will warm up for the series with a T20 against an England A side at Sophia Gardens on July 4.

The A squad includes internationals Davies, Mady Villiers and Maia Bouchier.  Alice Capsey, Marie Kelly and Bryony Smith are also involved.

A 50-over game between the two teams will take place on July 7, for which a separate squad will be announced.

Head coach Lisa Keightley said: "Although these South Africa ODIs don’t form part of the ICC Women’s Championship, we are at the beginning of a new three-year cycle, which is so exciting.

"We have to keep looking forward and trying to improve as a team, and we were so delighted with the energy and skill that the four debutants brought in the LV= Insurance Test match.

"I’m looking forward to hopefully seeing something similar in the Royal London Series and throughout the rest of the summer, with new players putting their hands up to win games for England and selection becoming tougher and tougher as more players make a case to be included."

England ODI squad: Heather Knight (c), Tammy Beaumont, Lauren Bell, Katherine Brunt, Kate Cross, Alice Davidson-Richards, Charlie Dean, Sophia Dunkley, Sophie Ecclestone, Amy Jones, Emma Lamb, Nat Sciver, Issy Wong, Danni Wyatt

England A squad: Bryony Smith, Maia Bouchier, Alice Capsey, Kira Chathli, Freya Davies, Dani Gibson, Bess Heath, Marie Kelly, Freya Kemp, Linsey Smith, Mady Villiers
