The tourists crushed the Kiwis by seven wickets in Napier to draw level at 2-2 with one match still to play
England captain Eoin Morgan has challenged his side to continue their improvement ahead of the T20 international series decider against New Zealand in Auckland on Sunday.
A seven-wicket win for the tourists in Napier sees the series level at 2-2 heading into the concluding match at Eden Park.
Dawid Malan struck the fastest 20-over century by an England player with a stunning 103 from 51 balls as they put on 241 for 3 after being stuck in on a flat track.
Eoin Morgan struck 91 from 41 balls in a stand worth 182 - the highest from an England pair in a T20I.
New Zealand struggled from the outset to keep pace with the visitors, eventually being bowled out or 165 as Matt Parkinson took 4-47.
"I am absolutely over the moon," Morgan said at the post-match presentation. "I thought it was a clinical performance.

Matt Parkinson chipped in with four crucial wickets
"We had to win tonight to go to Auckland with a chance of winning the series. Seeing young guys come through, particularly with the ball, was very impressive.
"Obviously Dawid Malan scoring a hundred is absolutely brilliant. To see a guy who had had limited amount of opportunities come in and make the most of it is exactly what you want to see. That strengthens our squad and our depth moving forward and that is ultimately what we want out of this tour.
"Myself and Dawid have played together for a long time for Middlesex and know each other's game pretty well. Everything was quite calm out there, lots of laughs and we managed to make the most of the wicket. It was a beautiful wicket in Napier tonight."
Asked what it will take to claim back-to-back wins and claim the series, the Irishman added: "We have to get better and better as the series goes on. Game on game I think we have done that. The Black Caps perhaps have also done the same but on Sunday lines up to be an epic game."
