Sophia Dunkley did it with a smile on her face

England have confirmed a 16-strong squad for the upcoming one-day international series against India.

Danni Wyatt's omission is the major headline, dropped followed a poor tour of New Zealand during the winter.

There is also no place for Georgia Elwiss.

Emily Arlott, called up for the first time for the one-off Test against the tourists, stays on for the first half of the white-ball matches.

Anya Shrubsole missed the six-match Kiwi tour with a knee problem and is back in while Sophia Dunkley is again called up as she awaits her ODI debut.

Freya Davies and Sarah Glenn were released from the Test squad prior to the draw in Bristol but both return.

England face India in 50-over matches at Bristol (June 27), Taunton (June 30) and Worcester (July 3) before the three T20s round-off the tour. The two teams are locked at two points each in the multi-format series.

"The competition for places across all formats is growing every time we meet to select a squad," said coach Lisa Keightley.

"The options available to us are the strongest we've had since I’ve been in the role and we feel this group gives us a great opportunity for success in the ODI element of the series.

"There's no space on this occasion for Danni Wyatt and Georgia Elwiss, and while I know they're both disappointed to miss out, it's important that they're given the opportunity to play cricket at a regional level ahead of the Vitality IT20 series."

England squad: Heather Knight (c), Emily Arlott, Tammy Beaumont, Katherine Brunt, Kate Cross, Freya Davies, Sophia Dunkley, Sophie Ecclestone, Tash Farrant, Sarah Glenn, Amy Jones, Nat Sciver (vc), Anya Shrubsole, Mady Villiers, Fran Wilson, Lauren Winfield-Hill
