ICC match referee, Phil Whitticase, who was officiating during the three-match T20I series between England and Sri Lanka, has tested positive for Covid-19.

The positive test was recorded following a round of routine PCR tests at the Ageas Bowl on Friday, June 25.

Whitticase, who the ECB have reported as being well and asymptomatic, will now observe a 10-day self-isolation period.

Seven other individuals from the match officials and anti-corruption unit teams, including five who were due to officiate the ODI match between the sides at Durham on June 29, will also isolate for 10 days after being deemed in close contact with Whitticase.

However, no members of the two teams were impacted and the ECB are currently making alternative arrangements to ensure the first ODI goes ahead as planned.
