Stone returned home from England's tour of the Caribbean after tests diagnosed a "bone stress injury" and has since undergone further testing by his county's medical department.
On Wednesday, Warwickshire released a statement addressing the youngster's condition.
"Warwickshire County Cricket Club can confirm that fast bowler Olly Stone has suffered a partial stress fracture to his left lower back following further examination on his return from England’s Test tour of the Caribbean," it read.

Stone, who came back from a ruptured ACL to force his way into the England reckoning last year, will now be treated at Edgbaston.
Warwickshire first-team coach Jim Troughton said: "We’re bitterly disappointed for Olly who has already had his fair share of injury heartache.
"Getting himself into the England set up was a great achievement so the timing of this set back is a tough one for him.
"The science and medical staff at Warwickshire will work closely with Olly, in partnership with the England medical team, and hopefully we can have him back to bowling as soon as possible."
