The Cricketer runs the rule over the individual performances of both sets of players during England's clash with Pakistan at Trent Bridge...
Jason Roy (114): The opener looks in sensational knick. Two tons and two further fifties in his past five ODIs now. The World Cup has come at just the right time. 9
James Vince (43): Plenty of good-looking strokes in his 38-ball knock. Seems likely he’ll make the final cut but could have done with a big’un here. 6
Joe Root (36): Another frustrating knock for Root. Got in, got out, has not found the rhythm he might have wanted ahead of the World Cup. 5
Ben Stokes (71* & 0-22): Four reliable overs with the ball but this was all about the bat. Played a crucial role in turning a game for the first time in a while in ODI cricket, starting slowly but pacing his innings perfectly. 8
Jos Buttler (0): Completely miscued an Imad Wasim full toss second ball. Missed stumping. Not the best day. 3
Moeen Ali (0 & 0-30): Used sparingly with the ball. Skewed a catch to give his wicket away cheaply. 4

Joe Denly (17 & 0-27): Economical figures on a belting track, and much more consistency in his line and length after that one-over guffbomb in Bristol. Needed to bat on with England in a pickle. 4.5
Tom Curran (4-75 & 31): A little expensive but still has the happy knack of taking wickets, which will be worth its weight in gold come tournament play. Excellent under pressure with the bat. 8
Adil Rashid (12* & 0-49): Just the seven overs, as Joe Denly got his chance to show what he could do. Largely in control. 6
Mark Wood (DNB & 2-71): Opened up with three deliveries over 90mph in his first over. Expensive at times, when Pakistan’s batsmen flashed hard and edges flew to the boundary, but largely impressive in his first outing of the series. 7
Jofra Archer (DNB & 1-62): Defended the tiny boundary square superbly, mixing raw aggression and variable length. Going at 6.2 at Trent Bridge in your third ODI is not to be sniffed at. 7.5

Babar Azam recognises the fans' applause after reaching three figures
Fakhar Zaman (57): Another entertaining, aggressive knock from the Pakistan opener, who absolutely refuses to be intimidated by any attack. Willing to go on the offensive against all comers, and this ultimately proved his undoing here, but he gave his side an excellent platform. Dropped Roy early. 6.5
Imam-ul-Haq (6*): Took a nasty blow from Wood, went to hospital for an X-ray and was then bizarrely sent in for the final two overs when all that was needed was a swing from the hip. 5
Babar Azam (115): A swashbuckling, easy-on-the-eye ton from one of the best No.3s in world white-ball cricket. Got out just at the wrong time, with 10 overs left and without a set partner. 9
Mohammad Hafeez (59 & 0-48): A useful start from the No.4 before being undone by a Wood short ball which got too big on him too early. Did not score his runs at the rate his team might have hoped for. 6.5

Shoaib Malik (41): By far the best strike rate of all Pakistan’s batsmen, with the exception of his captain, until he stepped back way too far into his crease and sliced his bat through all three stumps. 6.5
Asif Ali (17): Knew he needed to give the innings the hurry-up and engaged in a fascinating to-and-fro with Jofra Archer, which he ultimately lost. Still, Pakistan have to include the power-hitter in their final World Cup squad after the series he’s had. 5
Sarfraz Ahmed (21*): Back where he ought to be batting, at No.7, and added quick late runs. 6
Imad Wasim (12 & 2-62): Bowled with rhythm and accuracy, even if England's batsmen gifted him a couple of wickets. A couple of lusty blows with the bat towards the end of the innings. 6.5
Hasan Ali (1 & 1-56): Very good at the death but only left two runs to defend by his colleagues in the final over. 6.5
Junaid Khan (DNB & 1-85): Dropped Root and had a largely miserable time in the field barring one special caught and bowled. 4
Mohammad Hasnain (DNB & 2-80): A brave spell from the youngster at a ground which bowlers fear and a team which scores runs for fun. 6
