England's Ben Stokes has returned to the field during the fourth Ashes Test against Australia following an injury scare.

The 28-year-old pulled up four balls into his 11th over and though he lasted one more delivery he was unable to complete the spell due to pain in his shoulder.

Stokes recorded figures of 10.5-0-66-0 before being withdrawn, with Jack Leach enlisted to the complete the over.

He reeled off a 24.2 over spell with the ball before scoring an unbeaten 135 in the one-wicket win at Headingley in the third Test.

Joe Root is already without James Anderson, who has not played since the opening day of the first Test at Edgbaston due to a long-running calf problem.
