Chris Woakes made 78 against Australia in Adelaide
England slipped to defeat in Adelaide in the fourth one-day international against Australia.
Chris Woakes hit 78 to help the tourists out of a position of incredible difficulty at eight for five but England's 196 all out wasn't enough.
Travis Head made 96 for Australia, who won by three wickets with plenty of time to spare. Here are the key stats from the game...
There are many bowlers who have been taken to the cleaners by Alex Hales in white-ball cricket. Pat Cummins is not one of them.
Hales has faced 14 deliveries from the Aussie speedster in ODI cricket, Cummins has conceded just three runs and got the England batsman out three times.
Hales’ wicket will go down as a statistic among Cummins’ best ever ODI figures.
His 4-21 at the Adelaide Oval surpasses his previous best of 4-41 against New Zealand at Canberra in 2016.
At 8 for 5 England had contrived to find themselves with he third worst score in ODI history for the loss of five wickets. Only Sri Lanka (6 for 5, 2009) and Canada (7 for 5, 2013) have scored fewer runs five down.
England’s next lowest total for the loss of five wickets was against South Africa (20 for 5) at Lord’s last year.

Pat Cummins claimed his best ODI figures
At 8 for 5, England had seen four batsman go for a duck with Jason Roy, Jonny Bairstow, Joe Root and Jos Buttler all dismissed without scoring.
Record books were swiftly being referred to which revealed the most ducks in an ODI innings was six by Pakistan, against England at Edgbaston in 1987.
Those early wickets strangled England’s ability to attack with their usual fervour and the boundary rope went untroubled early on.
Moeen Ali registered the tourists’ first boundary 14.3 overs into their innings. In Autralia’s reply it took David Warner just three balls to hit his first four.
As he pulled England from the quicksand Chris Woakes passed 1,000 runs in ODI cricket. The Warwickshire allrounder is having a fine series with the bat with scores of 39*, 53*, 78.
Today’s knock was his second-highest score in one-day internationals, his unbeaten 95 against Sri Lanka at Trent Bridge in 2016 his best, and indeed the highest knock by a No 8 in ODIs.
