Alastair Cook and his wife Alice are expecting a third child
Alastair Cook may not feature in the fourth Test against India in Southampton in order to be with his wife at the birth of their third child.
England opener Cook's partner Alice is due to go into labour around the start of the match at the Ageas Bowl, which is scheduled for August 30, according to a report in the Daily Mail.
Cook, who has been struggling for runs in the current series, has played in 157 consecutive Tests for his country - a world record.
The batsman arrived late onto England's tour of Bangladesh in 2016-17 so he could be present for the arrival of his second daughter, Isobel. The couple have another daughter, Elsie.
Cook has managed 80 runs in five innings against India, his most recent failure with the bat coming early on the fourth day of the third Test at Trent Bridge, when he was dismissed for 17 by Ishant Sharma.
England could also be without Jonny Bairstow, who sustained a small fracture to the middle finger on his left hand on day three in Nottingham, at the Ageas Bowl.
