England secured a one-wicket win at Old Trafford to complete a 5-0 series whitewash. The Cricketer assesses the individual performances of the two sets of players...
ENGLAND
Jason Roy (1): Tried to hit Agar out of the ground in the first over and lost his wicket for it. Not his finest moment in a fine series. 2
Jonny Bairstow (12): The first of Billy Stanlake’s three victims. A surprisingly-mortal day for Bairstow. 4
Alex Hales (20): Not a great shot to a wide delivery from Kane Richardson. 4
Joe Root (0-32 & 1): Looked livid with himself after edging to Marsh. A relatively low-key series with the bat by his standards. 2
Eoin Morgan (0): Beaten by pace, timber rattled. Hard to be too critical after leading his side to a series whitewash. 3
Jos Buttler (110*): Just top class. Almost single-handedly won the chase for England. A tremendously measured innings. Supreme with the gloves too. 10
Moeen Ali (4-46 & 16): A career-best for Moeen, got the Aussie collapse started. 8
Sam Curran (2-44 & 15): Started with two expensive overs but fought back well to claim his first international wickets. Handy cameo with the bat. 6
Liam Plunkett (1-19 & 0): First-ball dismissal could have been hugely costly for England. 5
Adil Rashid (1-32 & 20): Played a vital hand alongside Buttler despite picking out fine leg with 11 runs still required. Tight with the ball, bowls so few boundary balls. 8
Jake Ball (0-29 & 1*): Just the five overs bowled. Probably didn't expect to have to pick up a bat but saw it out. 6

Buttler hit a sublime hundred
AUSTRALIA
Aaron Finch (22): Crunched Curran for a couple of crisp boundaries as Australia got off to a flyer. Undone by Moeen. 6
Travis Head (56): Head’s third straight fifty, couldn’t push on again. 7
Marcus Stoinis (0 & 2-37): Out sweeping his second ball to Ball on the run at short fine leg. Picked up a couple of wickets. 5
Shaun Marsh (8): Fell to a combination of Moeen and Buttler today. A decent series for Marsh. 4
Alex Carey (44): Certainly a talented cricketer. Curran's first international wicket. 7
Tim Paine (1): Supreme run out from Buttler but just didn’t need to take it. Tough series for the skipper. 3
D'Arcy Short (47* & 0-12): Further down the order today, potentially on for a big score if he had others around him. 7
Ashton Agar (0 & 1-34): What are you doing, mate? Bizarre leave but tight with the ball again. 6
Kane Richardson (14 & 3-51): Does go for a few boundaries but put England under pressure with two wickets in two balls. 7
Nathan Lyon (1 & 0-32): A very economical display with no wickets to show for it. 7.5
Billy Stanlake (2 & 3-35): Been a threat throughout the series, not always with reward. Today he showed the damage he can cause against a high-quality batting line-up. Pace does drop off at times. 8
