Paul Farbrace is an option to succeed Trevor Bayliss
Trevor Bayliss has tipped his current second-in-command, Paul Farbrace, to succeed him as England coach.
Bayliss announced that he would not be seeking an extension to his existing contract, which runs until 2019, in the wake of the 4-0 Ashes debacle in Australia and Farbrace is among those being talked about as a potential replacement.
Chris Silverwood, who recently joined the England set-up from Essex, has been mooted while pundits have suggested names like Nasser Hussain and Alec Stewart but Bayliss would be comfortable with his existing right hand man stepping up.
"Paul Farbrace I think would do a grand job," said Bayliss.
"If there's a possibility down the line (for him to be groomed as the successor) so be it. We're pretty close anyway and if Farby was the next one I don't think it would create too much of a problem at all.
"He's well respected among this group of players, he knows the system very well and he's a personable guy.
"Most importantly, he's a good coach with experience around the world with Sri Lanka and England.

Bayliss will not seek a new England contract
"When I was a No. 2 years ago a bloke said to me the role of the No2 is to make the No1 look good and I think Farby has done a good job in that regard."
Meanwhile, the England coach was asked what he would think if the ECB chose to appoint a specialist T20 coach for the national side.
Bayliss's thoughts on T20 internationals are abundantly clear - he spoke on Sunday about his belief that they should be reserved only for World Cup years - and he seemed relaxed about the possibility of being ousted by a short-format expert.
"That will obviously be a discussion with higher levels, with Andrew Strauss and people like that," he said.
"If that was what they thought was the way to go ahead, I'd be all for it. If not, I am more than happy to keep going and work with these guys towards that next T20 World Cup."
