Chris Jordan has replaced Josh Tongue in England's squad to face New Zealand in the upcoming four-match T20I series.

Right-arm pace bowler Tongue has been ruled out of the series due to injury, joining Hampshire's John Turner (side strain) on the sidelines.

The 25-year-old will also miss The Hundred Eliminator at the Kia Oval on August 26, where his Manchester Originals side will face Southern Brave.

Tongue previously struggled with a shoulder-nerve injury and considered pulling the plug on his cricket career before working his way back to fitness ahead of the 2023 campaign.

After impressing on an England Lions tour of Sri Lanka, he was handed his Test debut in June, going on to take 10 wickets at 25.70 in two appearances.

Tongue had been expected to make his T20I debut during the New Zealand series as England look to expand their fast-bowling stocks.

Jordan, his replacement, has made 87 T20I appearances for England since making his debut in 2014, picking up 96 wickets with an economy of 8.72.

The T20I series is scheduled to begin on August 30 in Durham before moving to Old Trafford, Edgbaston and Trent Bridge. A four-match ODI series will follow from September 8-15.
