South Africa international Theunis de Bruyn will join Surrey in June and be available for two County Championship matches.

The 25-year-old could be in the XI for a fixture against Somerset at Guildford and Yorkshire the following week at Scarborough.

De Bruyn has scored 130 runs in five Tests for South Africa and owns a first-class average of 46.27.

He will be looking to add to his five Test caps when South Africa's two-match series with Sri Lanka begins in July.

The South African says he is looking forward to testing himself in county cricket.

“I am delighted to be joining Surrey, a club with rich history, for the next two Championship matches. It has always been one of my ambitions to play county cricket", he said.

Alec Stewart added: “We’re very pleased Theunis is available join us for our games at Guildford and Scarborough.

“With Jason Roy and Tom Curran involved in the current One Day series against Australia and Ben Foakes and Sam Curran representing the England Lions, Theunis will provide vital reinforcement for our next two Specsavers County Championship matches.”
