Scott Borthwick has broken his wrist
Surrey have received a blow ahead of the return of the County Championship with the news that Scott Borthwick has broken his wrist.
Borthwick sustained the injury during a net session in the lead-up to the T20 Blast victory over Hampshire on Wednesday night.
Surrey have only ruled their player out of action for the upcoming day-night Championship match with Lancashire at the Kia Oval, which is due to begin on Sunday.
However, given the nature of the injury, it is likely that Borthwick will be sidelined for longer.
In a statement on the county's website, the allrounder said: “I’m absolutely gutted to be out injured and I’ll be supporting the boys as much as I can off the field and working with the physio to try and get back as soon as possible.”
