Nick Gubbins will be out of action for a month
Middlesex will be without Nick Gubbins for the start of the County Championship campaign after the batsman was diagnosed with a grade two hamstring strain.
Gubbins has been ruled out until the end of April following a scan upon his arrival back in the UK from the Caribbean, where he had been touring with England Lions.
The opener hit two centuries for the South in the ECB's North-South series before sustaining the problem while in the field in the third and final meeting of the two sides, in Barbados.
A Middlesex statement read: "Having commenced his rehabilitation, he is making good progress, and the medical team are expecting him to be available for action towards the end of April.
"Everyone at the club wishes Nick a speedy return to fitness."
Gubbins' absence will coincide with Middlesex's games against Northamptonshire, Derbyshire and Glamorgan in Division Two.
