Hobart Hurricanes have re-signed Jofra Archer for next season

Jofra Archer's sensational season just got better after the young seamer signed a new two-year deal with Hobart Hurricanes in the Big Bash.

Archer, who has taken the competition by storm after being drafted in to replace Tom Curran, has committed himself to the Tasmanian franchise just hours after penning a lucrative deal in the Indian Premier League with Rajasthan Royals.

The Barbados-born 22-year-old, who has taken 15 wickets at an average of less than 20 and with an economy rate of 7.5 in the ongoing Big Bash, was reportedly wanted by Perth Scorchers for next season.

However, he wanted to reward the faith shown in him by the Hurricanes.

"I think for four days he tried to convince me to come and play for them the following year," Archer said, referencing the efforts of Perth and Sussex coach Jon Lewis to coax him into joining the Scorchers.

"There was a lot of scrutiny picking an overseas player who hadn't played any international cricket.

"Having now been here, I want to be here every December, January, February for however long the Hurricanes want me."

"About a month after we signed Tom, George [Bailey] messaged me and said we should have signed Jofra," Cricket Tasmania chief executive Nick Cummins said.

"Anyone you talk to in the UK was raving about Jofra."

Archer will be back in action on Thursday in their Big Bash semi-final against Perth in the brand new Optus Stadium.
