Leicestershire have signed Indian seamer Varun Aaron to replace the injured Sohail Khan for the early part of the County Championship season.
Aaron, 28, has 126 first-class wickets to his name at an average of 32.80 and has played nine Tests and nine one-day internationals for his country.
He will provide back-up to Pakistani bowler Muhammad Abbas, who will play the first game of the campaign for Leicestershire before heading off on international duty.
Aaron will take up the mantle in both Championship and Royal London One-Day Cup cricket until Abbas returns on June 20.
"Varun is a high-quality performer and his skills will be ideally suited to early season conditions in England. We are delighted to secure his signature for both Specsavers County Championship games and fixtures in the Royal London One-Day Cup," head coach Paul Nixon said.
"We are getting a genuinely quick bowler in Varun, who has played a number of games for India and also enjoyed a fine domestic career. Varun is very keen to do well for us and get back in the India team again and we’re really looking forward to him linking up with us."
