Harvey Hosein will remain with the club until at least the end of the 2020 season
Wicketkeeper-batsman Harvey Hosein has signed a two-year deal with Derbyshire, keeping him at the club until the end of the 2020 campaign.
Hosein has scored 1,259 runs in 31 first-class matches for Derbyshire since making his debut in 2014, hitting one hundred and nine fifties.
On debut Hosein broke the club’s record for most dismissals in a match by a keeper, taking 11 catches against Surrey at The Oval.
The 22-year-old scored 376 County Championship runs at 26.86 in 2018 and claimed 12 catches and one stumping in eight matches.
Dave Houghton, head of cricket, said: “Harvey is a talented young wicketkeeper-batsman who we feel has a bright future ahead.
“Already in his young career he has shown the qualities of a top cricketer who can win games and we now want to give him the confidence of our full backing.
“We see Harvey as our long-term wicketkeeper-batsman and we look forward to watching him continue his progression.”
Hosein stated: “I’m excited to sign a new contract at Derbyshire, a club I have been with since I was very young.
“In my chats with Dave [Houghton], it’s been nice to hear that he has full confidence in me and my ability and I’m looking forward to working with him.”
