The agreement, which will keep him at the club until the end of the 2022 season, comes on the back of a fine campaign in red-ball cricket for the 23-year-old
Derbyshire wicketkeeper Harvey Hosein has signed a new two-year deal with the county, extending the contract he signed last year.
The agreement, which will keep him at the club until the end of the 2022 season, comes on the back of a fine campaign in red-ball cricket for the 23-year-old.
He signed a similar extension at the end of the 2018 season, which took him through to the end of the 2020 campaign.
He struck five half-centuries and averaged 28.09 in the County Championship in 2019, while he also claimed 40 catches. Daryn Smit took the gloves in the club’s landmark T20 campaign as Dominic Cork’s side reached Finals Day for the first time.
Hosein has been associated with the club for over a decade and came through its academy. Having made his debut in 2014, he has scored 2,042 first-class runs at an average of 30.93, including 14 half-centuries and two centuries.
Dave Houghton, the county’s head of cricket, said: “Harvey took the responsibility of being first-choice wicketkeeper in four-day cricket last season really well and he showed great maturity.
“He has done well, and his potential is clear to see, we are excited to see his continued development in the next three years.”
Hosein added: “It was a huge confidence boost to be given the gloves last season, and the opportunity really gave me some good experience.
“I’m really looking forward to showing what I can do in the next three years and hopefully helping the side to success in the near future.”
