The 2020 runners-up enlist the services of two members of Australia's successful squad from the UAE
Australia World Cup winners David Warner and Mitch Marsh were the stand-out signings for Delhi Capitals on day one of the IPL mega auction.
Warner was named player of the tournament and Marsh won the outstanding performer in the final victory over New Zealand.
They were picked up for 6.25 crore (£589,108) and 6.50 crore (£591,552) respectively.
Losing Shikhar Dhawan and Kagiso Rabada meant that despite finishing the regular-season top of the table they needed some key replacements.
And Capitals can be satisfied with their work heading into day two, even if they failed to bring back Dhawan, Ravichandran Ashwin and Rabada, as they hoped.
Their biggest outlay came in for Shardul Thakur after interest from Gujarat Titans and former sides Punjab Kings and Chennai Super Kings, which required a 10.75 crore bid.
Capitals chair Parth Jindal said: “I can’t believe that we got such a legend (Warner).
"With him and Privthi [Shaw] opening, I think it’s going to be an explosive start to every single Delhi Capitals innings."

“Yeah David Warner the guy who just won the World Cup is back at Delhi!”
Warner, who spent four seasons at Delhi Daredevils, added: “I’m coming back to where it all started, can’t wait to see you all very soon over in India, look forward to it."
They were unchallenged as they picked up Mustafizur Rahman for his base cost of 2 crore (£195,602), while Kuldeep Yadav was added at the same cost.
The closing stages, which included the sets containing uncapped players, saw DC make a handful of additions including Ashwin Hebbar and Sarfaraz Khan for 20 lakhs (£19,560).
At least one return was secured in the form of KS Bharat who will be the backup wicketkeeper to Rishabh Pant and there will be hope that Kamlesh Nagarkoti (1 crore (£97,801) can enjoy an injury-free run.
