The Cricketer and the Caribbean Cricket Podcast have joined forces to cover the Caribbean Premier League in 2020.
The partnership will see the two outlets collaborate on podcasts and vodcasts over the course of the coming month, while voices from the Caribbean Cricket Podcast will write weekly columns on thecricketer.com.
The initiative is part of The Cricketer’s ongoing efforts to broaden its output, affording more opportunities to those whose opinions and ideas previously have not been widely heard in the English cricket media.
It follows the link-up with The Voice - Britain’s biggest black newspaper - during the recent West Indies Test series.
Digital editor Sam Morshead said: “The Caribbean Cricket Podcast has shown over the course of the summer that there are always new and engaging ways to cover the game we love - and through this partnership I hope we can introduce more and more people to their work.
“It’s incredibly important that we continue to learn from, and give opportunities to, different voices within the game.
“Machel, Santokie, and the rest of those who contribute to the Carribean Cricket Podcast will give our own coverage of the CPL greater breadth and depth, and hopefully this collaboration will generate interesting and unique content which cannot be found elsewhere.”
Machel Hewitt and Santokie Nagulendran, the founders of the Caribbean Cricket Podcast, said: “We here at the Caribbean Cricket Podcast are delighted to be teaming up with The Cricketer to provide in-depth and unique coverage of this year’s Caribbean Premier League.
“We recognise The Cricketer has been at the forefront of promoting diversity and broadening voices within English cricket media and are delighted to have the opportunity to work with them.
“We will continue to produce our podcasts and vlogs that fans enjoyed during the recently concluded West Indies tour of England, as well as trial some new concepts alongside Sam and his team that we hope will engage fans in further ways during the tournament.”
