Caribbean Premier League side Jamaica Tallawahs have signed New Zealand leg-spinner Ish Sodhi as replacement for Australian leg-spinner Adam Zampa as he returns to Australia for the start of their domestic season.
Zampa leaves the Tallawahs as their third highest wicket taker, having taken nine wickets from nine matches at an average of 27.44 and an economy rate of 9.50. The Australian’s best figures in the tournament, 3/27, came against St Lucia Stars in game seven as the Jamaican side romped to victory by six wickets.
Sodhi may be making his CPL birth with Tallawahs but he is an experienced T20 campaigner, having played 113 matches in his career, taking 126 wickets at an average of 23.26. The twenty-five-year-old spinner notably took 19 wickets for Nottinghamshire Outlaws in the T20 Blast this year.
Sodhi’s new side sit third in the CPL league phase, having already qualified for the playoffs.
