Brandon King (Jamaica Tallawahs)

Jamaica Tallawahs' dynamite opening batter. King is the leading run-scorer after the first week of matches, notching up 121 runs at a strike rate of 147.56. Against St Kitts & Nevis Patriots, he smashed 89 runs off 57 balls (eight fours, six sixes) and followed it up with a solid 32 (25) against Guyana Amazon Warriors.

Andre Fletcher (St Kitts & Nevis Patriots)

The Patriots wicketkeeper made a slow start to the CPL, scoring 31 off 34 balls against Jamaica Tallawahs in the tournament opener, but bounced back in style against Barbados Royals. Fletcher scored 81 runs off 55 balls, including smacking Obed McCoy for 4, 6, 4, 4 in the 14th over. It wasn't enough to deliver the win for St Kitts, however.

Kyle Mayers (Barbados Royals)

Mayers has shown his all-round brilliance in his first two matches of the 2022 CPL. With the bat, he's scored 73 (46) against St Kitts and 36 (23) against St Lucia Kings at the top of the order. With the ball, he produced what will almost certainly be the bowling performance of the tournament, taking 4 for 4 from two overs against St Lucia. 10 of his 12 deliveries were dots while Johnson Charles, Mark Deyal, Roston Chase and Roshon Primus all departed at his hand.

Rahkeem Cornwall (Barbados Royals)

Mayers' opening partner in crime at the Royals, Cornwall's 71 runs have come at a strike rate of 169.04 and included eight fours and four sixes. A 17-ball ball 32 against St Lucia Kings is the pick of his performances to date. His partnerships with Mayers have yielded 64 runs off 39 balls (St Kitts) and 49 off 29 (St Lucia), with Cornwall doing the bulk of the scoring.

Faf du Plessis (St Lucia Kings)

He's playing out of his position in this XI but du Plessis has been the best overseas batter during the early stages of the CPL. In his first outing for St Lucia Kings, he blasted 47 not out from 20 balls, including two fours and three sixes. It wasn't enough to see his side over the line against Barbados Royals, but he did evade the clutches of Mayers.

Rovman Powell (Jamaica Tallawahs)

The Jamaica Tallawahs captain has shown two sides to his game in the early stages of the CPL. Against St Kitts & Nevis Patriots, he smashed a quickfire 30 runs off 15 deliveries and shared a partnership of 51 (28) with opener King, Against Guyana Amazon Warriors, meanwhile, he anchored his side's chase, scoring 44 not out off 38 at No.4 to see them over the line with four balls to spare.

Alzarri Joseph (St Lucia Kings)

Joseph is the leading wicket-taker in the CPL, collecting six scalps in two matches. Against TKR, he bagged 4 for 17, including both Andre Russell and Kieron Pollard, before adding 2 for 31 against Barbados Royals. Handy with the bat, he scored 29 not out off 18 balls in his side's rain-reduced chase against the Royals – one of only two batters (the other being du Plessis) to pass five.

Chris Green (Jamaica Tallawahs)

He might be wicketless after two matches but only two players have conceded fewer runs per over than Chris Green. He played a central role in keeping Fletcher, Evin Lewis and co. quiet during his side's clash with St Kitts, conceding just 21 runs from his four overs – including just one boundary. Against Guyana Amazon Warriors, he bowled a whopping 20 dot balls on his way to figures of 0 for 5. Shimron Hetymer and Chandrapaul Hemraj were the only players to sneak singles against him. Oh, and he scored 17 (7) in the same match.

Mohammad Amir (Jamaica Tallawahs)

Eight overs, four wickets and an economy of 5.62 – not a bad start to the CPL from Mohammad Amir. He picked up 1 for 23 against St Kitts, dismissing Lewis for four, before taking 3 for 22 against Guyana Amazon Warriors. He removed both Paul Stirling and Hemraj in the powerplay, with his first two overs yielding figures of 2 for 3.

Akeal Hosein (Trinbago Knight Riders)

Thanks to the weather, the Trinbago Knight Riders spinner has played just one match. However, that hasn't stopped him from racing to four wickets following a stunning performance against St Lucia Kings. He removed Charles, Deyal, Scott Kuggeleijn and Joseph on his way to figures of 4 for 13 and didn't concede a single boundary.

Gudakesh Motie (Guyana Amazon Warriors)

He was overshadowed by Amir in his only appearance to date but Motie was the standout performer for Guyana Amazon Warriors against Jamaica Tallawahs. While the likes of Romario Shepherd and Odean Smith conceded over nine runs per over, Motie recorded figures of 2 for 10 from his four overs, bowling 17 dot balls and leaking just one boundary. A good showing in just his eighth T20 match.
