Ryan Sidebottom, Steve Harmison and Tim Boon have joined Yorkshire’s interim coaching team to help with the club’s pre-season preparations.

Following allegations of institutional racism made against the club by Azeem Rafiq, Yorkshire axed their entire coaching staff, including head coach Andrew Gale and director of cricket Martyn Moxon, in December.

Darren Gough was later appointed as the club’s managing director of cricket for the 2022 season and he has called upon his former England teammates Sidebottom and Harmison to assist in a coaching capacity in the short-term.

The pair will work under former England and Leicestershire coach Tim Boon, who will lead training.

The trio will also be supported by fielding specialist Cookie Patel, former Durham and Sussex wicketkeeper-batter Martin Speight, Thunder head coach Paul Shaw and Northern Diamonds performance coach Richard Waite.

A club statement confirmed that none of the interim team are applicants for any permanent vacancies at the club. Applications for the vacant head coach position are currently under review.

Commenting on his interim team, Gough said: "I am delighted that we have been able to secure interim support of the highest quality, all of whom have many years of experience between them, and our players will hugely benefit from their vast knowledge and expertise."
