Yorkshire bowler Dom Leech could be out for the remainder of the season after breaking a metatarsal in his left foot.
The 21-year-old medium pacer, who recently signed a contract extension to remain at Headingley until the end of 2024, missed the beginning of the season with a broken rib but returned to the XI for three T20 Blast matches, picking up five wickets and best figures of 3 for 13 against Derbyshire.
He has also made three first-class appearances for Yorkshire and picked up 24 wickets at 24.25 in last year’s Second XI Championship.
Yorkshire’s head coach, Ottis Gibson, described the broken metatarsal as a "freak injury" and placed Leech’s recovery period at between six and 12 weeks.

"I was impressed with Dom in pre-season when I saw him, and we gave him an opportunity when he came back from his first injury. Then he goes and gets a freak foot injury," Gibson said.
"He’s had surgery (Friday), and I’m told by the medical team that it’s gone well. But it’s just so disappointing for him because he bowled well at Derby.
"All the games he’s played he’s gone really nicely, and we were looking to get him more involved. But it looks like his season could be over. It’s going to be six to 12 weeks recovery. If it’s 12, the season’s over. I’m hoping not. At the same time, we have to be realistic.
"He’s someone we think very highly of. So, to tie him down to a new contract is fantastic for us.
"He came into this summer off the back of a winter when I didn’t really get the opportunity to work that much with him. There’s a few things we need to iron out technically. But I think it’s very exciting. We look forward to having a full winter with him."
