Worcestershire have signed Josh Cobb on a white-ball deal for 2024 after the allrounder left Northamptonshire.

It was reported by The Cricketer this week that the New Road county were looking to bring in Cobb, who is a two-time player of the match in T20 Blast finals.

But his exit from Wantage Road seemed inevitable after surprisingly losing the captaincy to David Willey ahead of last year's Blast.

He departed earlier this month, with a season still remaining on his contract.

"The club has always been a well-drilled white ball unit, and I hope to bring my A game to New Road and assist in challenging for trophies," he said.

"I feel the coaching set up at the club is extremely exciting, being well led by Alan Richardson and well supported by Kadeer Ali, Richard Jones, and all the backroom staff.

"I would like to thank Ashley Giles for giving me this exciting fresh opportunity to once again do what I love – play exciting cricket and win trophies."

Cobb is set to be available for the Blast and One-Day Cup, unless he earns a Hundred deal in this year's draft.

He first won the Blast with Leicestershire in 2011, before repeating the trick at Northants. He has also captained Welsh Fire in The Hundred and is closing in on 300 white-ball appearances.

He follows former teammate Tom Taylor in making the move from Wantage Road to New Road this winter.
