Three Worcestershire academy members have signed their first professional contracts, the club have announced.

Batter Oli Cox, allrounder Rehaan Edavalath and keeper-batter Henry Cullen - members of the 2020-21 academy intake - are rewarded with rookie deals.

Cox and Edavalath will begin 12-month deals on October 1, while Cullen’s 15-month agreement starts immediately.

A second XI regular in T20 cricket this year, Cox top-scored on his second XI debut last year against Leicestershire.

Edavalath, who also bowls off-spin, scored his first century for the seconds this summer, striking an unbeaten 134 against the South Asian Cricket Academy.

Meanwhile, Cullen batted all of the final day against Leicestershire in the recent Second XI Championship match at Barnt Green, finishing 77 not out.

All three play in the Birmingham and District Premier League, turning out for Himley, Barnards Green and Kenilworth Wardens respectively.

Cricket steering group chair Paul Pridgeon said: "Good news is that over the last couple of days, we have agreed to sign three young players from our Academy who will join us on rookie contracts.

"They are talented individuals, and they are going to be very good players in the future. We are really confident about that."

"One is a wicket-keeper batter who hits the ball quite a long way, another is a batter who will be capable of playing white ball and red ball and the other is a genuine all-rounder who bowls off-spin and bats."
