As revealed by The Cricketer, the former Worcestershire seamer will take on the role at Edgbaston following the departure of Graeme Welch
Warwickshire have confirmed the imminent arrival of Matt Mason as the county's new bowling coach.
As revealed by The Cricketer, the former Worcestershire seamer will take on the role at Edgbaston following the departure of Graeme Welch.
Mason is expected to report for duty in the next fortnight after relocating from Western Australia. He was part of Perth Scorchers' backroom team during their recent title-winning Big Bash campaign.
He is understood to have seen off competition from Allan Donald, Dale Steyn, Donovan Miller and Courtney Walsh to land the job in the West Midlands.
Paul Farbrace, Warwickshire's director of cricket, said: "We spoke to several very strong candidates from around the world in this recruitment process, which highlights how highly regarded Warwickshire is.

Matt Mason, right, during his time at Worcestershire, is the new bowling coach at Warwickshire
"Matt has become an excellent bowling coach and we are delighted to bring him to Warwickshire. Whilst he has coached trophy winning teams and is vastly experienced of English bowling conditions, he has also played a big part in developing several Australia bowlers, including Cameron Green and Jhye Richardson. We look forward to him joining up with the squad in April following his relocation from Australia."
Mason has been in Australia since 2019, having previously worked on the coaching staff at Leicestershire and Worcestershire. He won the Australian One-Day Cup with Western Australia in 2020.
He said: "The opportunity to return to the UK with my family after three seasons in Western Australia and become a part of Warwickshire is such an exciting one; I am so passionate about county and English cricket after being part of it for 17 seasons as a player and coach.
"The squad is a great blend of youth and experience and despite the Championship success of last year, I sense the ambition to be a dominant club across all formats is strong."
Joining Mason at the county champions is Mo Sheikh, who has been appointed 2nd XI bowling coach and a club assistant coach.
