Teenagers Henry Hurle and Asa Tribe have signed rookie contracts with Glamorgan, which will keep them at Sophia Gardens for the next two seasons.

Hurle, a wicketkeeper-batter, came through Glamorgan's academy before making his 2nd XI debut in 2022 and represented England Under-19s earlier this year.

Tribe made his international debut for Jersey in 2021 and has gone on to play five ODIs and 21 T20Is. He made a splash earlier this year when he scored 115 not out in a World Cup qualifier against Papua New Guinea.

The 19-year-old enjoyed a breakthrough season in 2023, earning 2nd XI player of the year honours after scoring 456 runs, including back-to-back centuries, in the final four games of the season.

Glamorgan's 2nd XI head coach, Steve Watkin, said: "Both Henry and Asa have shown their skills across the season, and we're delighted to be offering them their first contracts with the club.

"They're both exciting talents, and we looking forward to welcoming them into the professional environment as they continue their development."

On Tribe, Jersey head coach, Neil MacRae said: "What really underpins Asa's development and growth has been his work ethic. He's worked so hard at his batting and his fitness over the past couple of years. He's starting to produce on a consistent basis, and he's also very hungry to keep improving and moving forward in the game."
