Lancashire veteran Steven Croft has signed a one-year contract extension with the club.

The 38-year-old, who joined the club's academy in 2003 and made his first-class debut two years later, has made 568 appearances for the club across all formats, winning the 2011 County Championship and 2015 T20 Blast.

In 2022, the allrounder proved age is just a number, scoring 1,770 runs in 41 appearances, including contributing 548 runs (four half-centuries) to Lancashire's run to the T20 Blast final and a further 837 runs (two centuries, three half-centuries) in the County Championship.

However, his most memorable contributions came in the Royal London Cup, where he scored 385 runs and produced a match-winning century in the quarter-finals against Nottinghamshire at his home ground, Blackpool. He won the club's one-day player of the year award for his efforts, as well as being crowned members' player of the year.

Commenting on his contract extension, Croft said: "I am just as proud to sign this contract as I was to sign my very first with the club.

"I love playing for Lancashire and to have the opportunity to do this next year for a 20th season is a brilliant feeling, especially after what has been such an enjoyable campaign for me on a personal level.

"We had a great season as a team too and I am really excited about what this squad can achieve together. We are all hungry to go one better next season and bring trophies back to Emirates Old Trafford."

Head coach, Glen Chapple, added: "Crofty has been an amazing servant to Lancashire, and we are really pleased that he has committed to another season with us.

"Numbers-wise, he enjoyed one of his best seasons for the club this year, contributing with match winning performances in all three formats throughout the summer.

"He leads by example, gives everything he's got for his county and the leadership which he brings into the dressing room is invaluable to what we are looking to achieve."
