The Division Two leaders dismissed Durham on day three of the LV= Insurance County Championship match at Trent Bridge to confirm their place in the top tier
Nottinghamshire are bound for Division One of the LV= Insurance County Championship next season after confirming promotion on the penultimate day of the campaign.
Peter Moores' side claimed the three bonus points required after dismissing Durham for 207 on day three at Trent Bridge.
They had already claimed four batting points from their first innings 662 for 5 declared to set them on their way.
Middlesex and Glamorgan are battling it out for the remaining promotion place.
Only defeat to Durham will prevent Notts from securing a first Division Two title since 2004.
The task of dismissing the visitors, who resumed on 53 for 2, was made all the easier by the injury to David Bedingham, who dislocated his left shoulder diving in the field on day two.

They were reduced to 80 for 4 in the 26th over but 40 from Nic Maddinson held up Notts.
But after the Aussie was dismissed by Stuart Broad, Dane Paterson and Liam Patterson-White claimed six wickets between them to break the back of the line-up.
England quick Matthew Potts then weighed in with some hefty blows but he was the final wicket to fall, a pull into the leg side off Paterson which was comfortably held by Ben Slater on the boundary.
Though a vote on the structure of the 2023 summer has been delayed, it is expected this season will form the basis for next year. Andrew Strauss' recommendations from the high-performance review, such as the introduction of a six-team top division, if approved, would be introduced from 2024 at the earliest.
