Kaul, 33, earned six caps for India – three in both white-ball formats – but is set for a first stint in county cricket, joining compatriot Karun Nair at Wantage Road
Northamptonshire have signed Siddharth Kaul as an overseas seamer for their next three County Championship games.
Kaul, 33, earned six caps for India – three in each of the white-ball formats – but went unsold at this year's IPL auction, making him available for a first stint in county cricket.
The right-armer replaces Chris Tremain, the Australian, whose four-game spell has come to an end, with visa regulations, which are based around domestic T20 appearances for players from full-member countries, restricting him to a monthlong term.
"I'm very happy to be here to represent Northamptonshire and very excited to help the team win games and push for promotion," said Kaul.
"I'm confident that I will bring my positive mindset and experience to help my teammates win in any situation in the match."

He joins compatriot Karun Nair at the county, with a third Indian international – Prithvi Shaw – set to return this summer to Wantage Road.
Northamptonshire head coach John Sadler added: "Sid has a lot of experience with the ball, he's played a lot of first-class cricket and is keen to make a big impact when he joins the squad. He's finished his domestic season over in India where he picked up some good form so hopefully he continues that on with us"
Kaul has taken 284 first-class wickets and is also the all-time leading wicket-taker in the Vijay Hazare Trophy and Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, India's premier domestic List A and T20 tournaments. He could make his Northamptonshire debut against Gloucestershire on Friday.
