Northamptonshire have signed Mohammad Nabi as an overseas player for the 2021 Vitality Blast.

The Afghanistan allrounder will be available for the group stage and the quarter-finals if the Steelbacks make it.

Having previously represented Kent and Leicestershire, this will be Nabi's third county spell and will follow an appearance with London Spirit during The Hundred.

"I’ve always enjoyed playing the Vitality Blast in England and it will be exciting to play at Northamptonshire," Nabi said. “Hopefully we can do well.”

Head coach David Ripley added: "We’re delighted to welcome such a high profile T20 player as Mohammad Nabi to the club.

"He has a wealth of experience from playing in so many global tournaments around the world and can completely turn a game with both bat and ball."
