Middlesex have tied four first-team players down to contract extensions at Lord's.

Nick Gubbins, Stevie Eskinazi, Tom Helm and Max Holden have all put pen to paper on new, long-term deals, though Middlesex have not disclosed their exact duration.

Gubbins, the left-handed opening batsman, has been on the verge of an England call-up in recent seasons thanks to his form in the County Championship.

He said: "I am absolutely delighted to extend my contract with this great club. It continues to be my dream to play here at Lord’s having joined as a 14-year-old.

"There have certainly been some ups and downs over the last few years, but at the end of the day, that is sport. We have a really-exciting squad who are thoroughly looking forward to the challenge of promoting the club back into Division One and to compete across all competitions."

Eskinazi, Middlesex's leading first-class runscorer in 2018, said: "After a challenging few seasons for the group I am really looking forward to contributing to a return to winning ways.

"We are a hungry group of players and are all excited about the opportunity to get the club back to Division One and challenging in white-ball cricket. The club is like a family to me and I am really proud to commit my future to it."

Managing director of cricket Angus Fraser said: "These are players entering the prime of their career and the fact they will be spending this time playing for Middlesex is something that all our supporters should look forward to.

"They have all shown the ability to perform at the highest level and on the biggest domestic stages. I expect each of their careers to continue to develop and that the quartet will provide the backbone of the Middlesex 1st XI for many years to come."
