Middlesex are celebrating the retention of Martin Andersson on a new three-year deal.

The 25-year-old's contract was due to expire at the end of the year but he has penned fresh terms until 2024.

Andersson, with his injury troubles firmly behind him, enjoyed perhaps the most fruitful campaign of his professional career in 2021.

He scored 439 runs and took 29 wickets in 13 County Championship matches.

Meanwhile, in the One-Day Cup he registered 133 runs in four innings and claimed a single wicket.

"Having been lucky enough to be a part of Middlesex since the age of thirteen, I am very excited and honoured to be committing to a further three years at this great club," he said.

"I have always appreciated the support the Club has given me, especially throughout my injuries, and I am delighted to continue working alongside some fantastic teammates, coaches and support staff.

"As a group, I truly believe we can achieve some memorable things and I look forward to being a part of it."

Tim Murtagh, Stephen Eskinazi and Robbie White have all signed new deals with the Lord's county since the end of last season.

Recently appointed head of men's performance cricket Alan Coleman added: "Genuine all-rounders are hard to come by in cricket, and Martin has shown his quality with both bat and ball during the last couple of seasons. I’m delighted that he has committed his future to the club.

"He has the ability to win games of cricket with both skills, and it will be great to watch him in a Middlesex shirt for the next few seasons."
