Louis Kimber commits future to Leicestershire

The 24-year-old scored 450 runs across all formats for Leicestershire last season and produced match-winning white-ball knocks against Somerset and Derbyshire

Louis Kimber has signed a contract extension to commit his future to Leicestershire.

The 24-year-old batter earned his first professional contract and scored 450 runs across all formats in 2021.

In the County Championship, he scored 151 runs in four innings, including half-centuries against Sussex and Worcestershire. In the Royal London Cup, he scored a further 197 runs while in the T20 Blast, he scored 102 runs at a strike rate of 137.83.

His best performance of the season came against Somerset in the Royal London Cup, with Kimber striking a career-best List A knock of 85 at a strike rate of 149.1. He also scored his maiden T20 half-century last season, producing a match-winning knock against Derbyshire Falcons.

Commenting on his contract extension, Kimber said: "I absolutely loved my first year at Leicestershire.

"It was great to see the potential that this group of players has. Over the next couple of seasons I look forward to seeing how the squad develops and how I as an individual can progress and contribute to the success of the club."

Leicestershire’s director of cricket, Claude Henderson, added: "We are really pleased that Louis [Kimber] has agreed to extend his contract with us. He has shown really good signs of what he is capable of which is great to see."
