Lewis McManus out for rest of Northamptonshire's season after operation on broken finger

Lewis McManus has been ruled out of the remainder of Northamptonshire's season through injury.

Wicketkeeper McManus sustained a broken finger in his side's Royal London Cup clash with Derbyshire in August. 

He has since had to undergo surgery and will miss the rest of the LV= Insurance County Championship campaign. 

McManus described himself as "gutted" at his injury.

He posted on social media on Sunday: "Will be supporting the lads through a strong finish to the season".

Northamptonshire, who currently sit fifth in Division One and are all-but assured of a place in the top tier next season, have three red-ball matches left to play.

They face Surrey at Wantage Road from Monday (September 12), ahead of scheduled games against Somerset in Taunton and Essex in Northampton.

Ricardo Vasconcelos is set to take on wicketkeeping duties for the Surrey match.
