Lancashire have announced the signing of Tim David ahead of the T20 Blast, having previously played in the competition for Surrey.

The 25-year-old has played 14 T20I matches for Singapore, averaging 47 with the bat, and he has seen his reputation skyrocket in the past 12 months.

David has represented several sides in franchise cricket in that time, including Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Indian Premier League, St Lucia Kings in the Caribbean Premier League and Hobart Hurricanes in Australia's Big Bash.

He represented Southern Brave in the final of The Hundred and is currently in Pakistan Super League action with Multan Sultans, for whom he has hit consecutive half centuries.

David said: "I am really excited that this opportunity has come about, and I can't wait to join up with the rest of the Lancashire Lightning squad for the start of the Vitality Blast in May.

"There is such a strong squad at Emirates Old Trafford and hopefully I can contribute with the bat and the ball to help the team go well this summer.

"I thoroughly enjoyed my brief spell with Surrey and the Brave in England last year and I am looking forward to building on that experience with the Red Rose."

Last summer was David's first taste of county cricket, making two Blast appearances and scoring two centuries and a fifty for Surrey in 10 Royal London Cup games.

He is known as a powerful striker of the ball, standing at 6ft 5in, and has amassed 1,850 T20 runs in 83 matches, with a strike rate of 159.

His unbeaten 51 last week against Peshawar Zalmi was the fastest in the tournament's history.

Lancashire head coach Glen Chapple added: "Tim fits the profile of player which we have been looking to bring into our T20 squad and his addition will give us more power in the middle order.

"His impressive T20 record – both at international level and in various leagues around the world - speaks for itself and we are really looking forward to him joining us in May."
