Surrey have re-signed Kemar Roach for the final stage of the County Championship title race.

The West Indies seamer played five games for the club at the start of the summer, picking up 18 wickets, before cutting his stint short by one game for a family matter.

But for a second successive season, Surrey have re-enlisted Roach for the home stretch. He took six wickets in the match in the first game of his return against Essex in 2022.

Roach said: "Surrey is a second home for me and I'm looking forward to getting back down to business ahead of three massive games. We know what the goal is for the team and I'm going to give everything to help achieve it."

Surrey head into September at the top of the table, with the chance to retain the crown they secured in 2022.

Essex sit 17 points behind, but Alec Stewart's side are not due to face the Chelmsford county again this season. Instead, they finish up against Warwickshire, Northamptonshire and Hampshire.

Roach, who told The Cricketer earlier this year in an interview that he expects to have two years left in the game, will fill the void left by Sean Abbott, whose spell at the county finished in July.

Abbott took 38 first-class wickets in nine matches at 24.8 apiece. Tom Latham's spell has also come to an end; he played five games through June and July.
