Joe Weatherley will remain at Hampshire until at least the end of the 2024 season after signing a contract extension at the Ageas Bowl.

Weatherley, a product of the Hampshire academy, has made good progress in both the red and white-ball arenas over the 2022 county campaign, accumulating 279 runs at 46.5 in the County Championship and 356 at a strike rate just shy of 130 in the T20 Blast.

He said the decision to stay on the south coast was "a no-brainer", particularly after the Finals Day triumph at Edgbaston last week.

"Hopefully I can continue to perform for the team and we can enjoy more days like we did at Vitality Blast Finals Day and pick up more silverware," he said.

Hampshire director of cricket Giles White said: "Joe has become an important member of the squad with the ability to influence matches in all forms of the game.

"We're delighted that he's committed to the club and look forward to seeing him continue his development over the next couple of years."
