Jake Libby has committed his future to Worcestershire until 2027 by putting pen to paper on a new four-year contract.

The batter, who moved to New Road from Nottinghamshire ahead of the 2020 season, has scored over 5,000 runs in 101 appearances for the Pears.

An instrumental figure in the red-ball side, he has scored over 1,000 runs in two of the past three seasons, including contributing 1,153 runs at 57.65 from 12 appearances as Worcestershire earned promotion back to Division One in 2023.

Over the course of his Worcestershire career, he averages 50.20 in first-class cricket and has also scored 968 runs in 24 List A outings and 781 runs in 32 T20 appearances.

Outlining Libby's value to Worcestershire, captain Brett D'Oliveira told The Cricketer: "Jake Libby was outstanding last year, another 1,000 runs which, as an opening batter, is a hell of an achievement, especially at Worcester which often favours you more with the ball.

"As an opener, facing the new red ball is really hard but he continues to churn out the runs."

Libby has his sights set on bringing silverware to New Road, stating: "We've got a great squad, and I'm excited about the challenges of next season and beyond. There's no reason why we can't compete for, and win, trophies – that's what excites me the most."

CEO Ashley Giles added: "Securing Jake for another four years is fantastic for the club. His consistency and leadership have been instrumental in our recent successes, and he will undoubtedly be a key figure in our pursuit of Division One triumphs."
