Warwickshire have tied down teenage allrounder Jacob Bethell to a long-term contract with the county.

The 18-year-old, who starred on England's road to the Under-19 World Cup final, will remain at Edgbaston until the end of the 2025 season at the earliest.

Born in Barbados before joining Warwickshire via a scholarship to Rugby School, Bethell has been picked up by Welsh Fire for The Hundred.

"Edgbaston is my home and I'm delighted to extend my contract at Warwickshire, it's something I couldn't turn down," said Bethell.

"I've really enjoyed being around the first team over the last couple of years and I'm grateful for the opportunities I have received, so far. I really want to play my part in bringing success to the county and I can't wait to see what the future holds."

Bethell was part of the first half of Birmingham Bears' T20 Blast campaign, but he struggled for runs before losing his place. He made his maiden first-class half century earlier this summer while on a four-day loan spell at Gloucestershire.

Paul Farbrace, Warwickshire's director of cricket, added: "We are absolutely delighted that Jacob has signed a contract extension with the club.

"Jacob is just 18, yet he has already made a significant mark at the Bears. He's a star in the making and a hugely talented player, and we're all looking forward to watching him develop over the next couple of years."
