"I started playing cricket at the age of four, joined Lancashire's pathway system at eight and have been on the Lancashire academy since I was 15 - so it has been a long journey for me to reach this point.

"I am looking forward to being around the first-team squad on a more regular basis now and improving my skills by working with the great coaching staff we have here at the club."

Director of cricket performance, Mark Chilton, added: "Harry has impressed during his appearances in the second XI over the last couple of seasons and it was really pleasing for us to see him performing at the top of the order for England Under-19s in Australia last month

"To be able to spend more time around the first-team environment will only continue to improve Harry's skillset and we are looking forward to him joining us on the pre-season tour to Dubai next week."
