Grant Stewart has swapped Kent for Sussex in a short-term loan move.

The allrounder, 28, is available immediately for Sussex - meaning he could feature in the LV= Insurance County Championship clash with Worcestershire from Thursday (April 21).

Kent retain the right to recall the Italy international at any point over the course of his month-long stay at Hove.

His parent club's director of cricket, Paul Downton, said: "Grant's loan move will provide him with invaluable playing time at first-team level, which will be of benefit to both Grant and to Kent."

Stewart's arrival will help lighten the burden of injuries within the Sussex dressing room, with the likes of Ollie Robinson and George Garton continuing to sit out.

Performance director at Hove, Keith Greenfield, said: "To be able to get a player of Grant's all-round ability is fantastic, especially as it will help to give balance to our side."

Sussex sit bottom of Division Two after a defeat and a draw in their first two fixtures of the new campaign.
