Glamorgan have been hit with a spate of injuries less than a week out from the start of their T20 Blast campaign.

The Welsh club kick-off their campaign against Sussex Sharks at Hove on May 26 but are likely to be without a number of key players.

Seamer Timm van der Gugten's hamstring tear suffered during the LV= Insurance County Championship is the most serious of the issues.

Ruled out for between eight and 10 weeks, the Dutchman will miss the entire Blast group stage, the County Championship trip to Worcestershire in late June and block of red-ball matches starting in mid-July.

Ruaidhri Smith is also out for the start of the 20-over competition after picking up a side strain against Warwickshire.

His four-six week diagnosis means he will be absent for the start of the campaign and may not be fit again before the closing weeks of the group phase.

The news is better for Eddie Byrom, who has not featured this term after undergoing minor surgery, but a hip flexor injury has delayed his return until the visit of Essex Eagles on June 2.

Captain David Lloyd meanwhile has a chest infection detected following the Championship defeat to Durham but is expected to be available to face Sussex next week.
