Warwickshire seamer Craig Miles has joined Glamorgan on a month-long loan deal for the start of the County Championship.

Miles arrives as injury cover for Timm van der Gugten, who has been ruled out of the opening round trip to Middlesex on Friday (April 5) with a calf injury.

The deal covers Glamorgan's home clash with Derbyshire (April 12-15) and visit to Northamptonshire (April 19-22).

Parent club Warwickshire have reserved the option to cut the loan short should they deem it necessary.

Part of the County Championship and Bob Willis Trophy double success in 2021, the 29-year-old has 344 first-class wickets in 100 matches and spent a match on loan at Durham last June.

"I'm naturally disappointed not to be starting the season with Warwickshire, but at the same time I want to get overs under my belt so I'm grateful I'll get the opportunity with Glamorgan," said the ex-Gloucestershire seamer.

"The ultimate aim is to perform well in those three games, take wickets, and stake a claim to get back into the Bears side. That's not easy as we have such a strong bowling line-up who are doing great things, but the motivation is there for me to do well."

"I'm feeling good, fit and ready to go. I feel like I've found a good rhythm, and my body is strong. I'm looking forward to the challenge and, as we know in cricket, things can change quickly."

"I am really looking forward to the opportunity of playing some red-ball cricket at the start of the season, and to be able to get some miles under my belt."

"We are pleased to strengthen our squad depth with the addition of Craig Miles on loan from Warwickshire," said Glamorgan head coach Grant Bradburn.

"Craig's experience and first-class record will provide a huge boost to our squad as we look to begin a new era of success for Glamorgan."
