The county have been docked two points from their Royal London Cup tally
Derbyshire have been docked two points from their Royal London Cup tally after allrounder Mattie McKiernan used a bat that failed the bat-gauge test last week.
McKiernan was charged with a breach of two ECB directives in relation to his bat from the county's two-wicket defeat by Hampshire.
The Cricket Discipline Commission (CDC) acknowledged that the breach was "unintentional", while the clean record of McKiernan, the leg-spinning allrounder, was also considered. The 28-year-old had also submitted an apology.
A CDC statement explained that the panel's chair, Ricky Needham, "decided that the offence, while committed unintentionally, must be dealt with on a strict liability basis, in that it is entirely the responsibility of a cricketer to ensure that the equipment being used conforms to the laws of the game".

The two-point penalty sees Derbyshire fall to eighth in their Royal London Cup group.
They are the second county to fall foul of a CDC breach in this year's tournament, with Durham docked two points for disciplinary offences last week.
